PART 1
Assignment Part 1: Presentation + Report 1 (LO1 – LO3)
In groups of four maximum you are required to select a hospitality organisation in the UK (if it is a chain, select a specific branch) and conduct an observation. Create a checklist to find the following:
- Name of the organisation.
- Very brief background of the organisation.
- Types of products/services of the selected organisation.
- Key components of the products of your selected organisation.
- Types of customers that visit the organisation.
Your findings are to be presented using Power Point by all the group members. (Week 6)
Presentation duration: 10-15mins
Presentation method: Power Point
Based on your findings you are also required to write a Field Report (Group work) including the following:
1. Detailed introduction to the selected organisation.
2. Evaluate the key components of the products of your selected organisation and their respective contribution to the sales and profit.
3. Explain the layout of your selected organisation’s outlet and its impact on the sales.
4. Identify the market segments of your selected organisation and the needs and wants of each market segment.

You are to upload the observation Checklist, the Power Point slides and your Field Report put in a single file for your final submission. (Week 6)

PART 2
Part 2 (Individual Work): Written Report 2 (LO2 – LO4)
Based on your group observation you are to write an individual report on the same selected organisation. The report should include the following:
1. Evaluate the internal and external merchandising materials used by your selected organisation.
2. Select one product and identify how it is advertised and promoted. Recommend and justify other methods that could be used for its advertising and promotion.
3. Observe the personal selling used in the selected organisation. Explain what techniques are used and make recommendations for improvements.
4. Propose a training programme for the recommended personal selling technique.

Word count: Max. 2500 words

You are to upload the report, power point slides and your observation checklist put in a single file for your final submission. (Week 11)

Additional Instructions:
SUBMISSION
- To receive your overall grade for this module, you have to put all documents (Checklist, PowerPoint Slides, Report 1 and Report 2) on one single document to be uploaded at the final submission week – week 11.
- All documents should be referenced using “in text” references and a list of references using the Harvard Referencing System.
